On January 29, Peng Yuanpu, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of China Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd., visited Hudong-Zhonghua, a subsidiary of CSSC, to conduct a research visit. Relevant officials from CSSC’s International Business Department, Chen Jianliang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Hudong-Zhonghua, Chief Engineer Song Wei, and Director of the Science and Technology Committee Jin Yanzzi, along with other related personnel, participated in the visit.

Peng Yuanpu went deep into the production lines—including those for low-temperature valves, pump towers, and insulation boxes—to gain an understanding of the R&D and manufacturing capabilities for key components of LNG vessels. He visited the low-temperature testing laboratory in the LNG industry chain and observed the operation of the pilot-scale platform for onshore LNG low-temperature engineering. At the terminal site, he conducted on-site research into the process innovations and construction progress of LNG transport vessels. He also listened to a special report on the development of the LNG equipment industrial chain at Hudong Zhonghua, with a particular focus on Hudong Zhonghua’s technical capabilities in the R&D and design of large LNG vessels, independent component supply, and low-temperature testing and verification.

Peng Yuanpu highly praised Hudong Zhonghua’s more than 20 years of deep engagement in the LNG industry chain, its commitment to independent R&D and self-reliance, and its remarkable achievements—from “sharpening a sword for ten years” to “forging ten swords in one year,” demonstrating its relentless efforts in transitioning from following others to taking a leading role in certain areas. He emphasized three key points: First, we must continue to consolidate and strengthen Hudong Zhonghua’s position as the “chain leader” in the LNG industry chain, promoting coordinated development across the entire industrial ecosystem. Second, we need to further intensify our efforts in independently developing critical equipment and materials, increase the localization rate of supporting components, and enhance the resilience, security, and controllability of our supply chain. Third, we should actively expand into new markets, continuously boost our global market share in LNG vessels, and lay a solid foundation for the company’s sustainable, high-quality development.

Chen Jianliang stated that they will thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles from this research visit, translating the requirements and arrangements of CSSC Group into concrete actions to drive development. They will promote independent innovation with greater intensity, strengthen industrial chain collaboration through more practical measures, and expand their global footprint with even greater vigor. By continuously consolidating their leading edge, they will earnestly shoulder the responsibility of being the “chain leader” and make greater contributions to ensuring national energy security.
