Hudong-Zhonghua LNG Ship Capacity Doubling Project Team

In 2025, the 'LNG Ship Production Capacity Doubling Project Team' at Hudong-Zhonghua, with extraordinary perseverance and wisdom, successfully completed the company’s ‘14th Five-Year Plan’ tasks, propelling China’s LNG shipbuilding capacity to a whole new level. The team completed 13 large LNG ships and delivered 11 of them throughout the year, marking the smooth achievement of the target to double production.

“This team is the finest embodiment of the HDHI LNG spirit, driving the company to achieve the highest design capacity, fastest construction efficiency, and the highest rate of domestic component integration in the global LNG vessel market. This year, the team has delivered 11 large LNG vessels, among which the ‘Yuanhai Oasis’ set a new world record for the fastest construction time for its class, completing the vessel in just 16 months. By promoting lean management and digital construction, the team has established an ever-accelerating construction pace—delivering four LNG vessels in a single month, showcasing the remarkable ‘China Speed.’ In tackling challenging tasks, the team has actively collaborated with upstream and downstream partners, expanding the number of domestic supporting enterprises from over 20 to more than 130. As a result, the team has successfully fostered a trillion-yuan-level supporting ecosystem and firmly secured control over core supply-chain technologies.”

The team takes on the mission of being the 'chain leader' in the LNG industry chain, successfully promoting the application of core materials and equipment such as domestically produced Invar steel, delivering LNG vessels with the highest rate of domestic component integration, and achieving breakthroughs in over 20 core technologies—including the NO96 Super+ containment system—thus bringing the vessel performance to a globally leading level.

The Sichuan ship has successfully completed its first sea trial.

On November 16, 2025, the Navy’s Sichuan ship completed its first three-day sea trial mission, during which a series of tests were conducted on systems and equipment such as propulsion and power generation, achieving the expected results. The Sichuan ship, built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, is a new-generation amphibious assault ship for the Navy. With a full-load displacement of over 40,000 tons, it features a twin-island superstructure and a fully continuous flight deck. It innovatively employs electromagnetic catapult and arresting gear technologies and can carry fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and amphibious equipment.
