December 15, 2024, is a memorable day in the company's development history, marking the 20th anniversary of the construction of China's first large-scale LNG ship, "Dapenghao". The "Dapenghao" project started construction on December 15, 2004 and was delivered on April 3, 2008. Its successful delivery marked a breakthrough for China's shipbuilding industry to achieve "zero" LNG ships, filling the gap in China's LNG ship production design and independent construction. The manufacturing of large LNG transport ships, which were monopolized by foreign shipping companies, was finally broken by the company, marking the first "pearl" in China's shipbuilding industry.

The "Dapenghao" had a total length of 292 meters, a width of 43.35 meters, a depth of 26.25 meters, a speed of 19.5 knots, and a loading capacity of 147000 cubic meters. It was the largest membrane LNG ship in the world at that time.

Since the construction and delivery of the first domestically produced large-scale LNG ship "Dapenghao" in 2008, the company's construction technology has continuously improved, becoming the only shipping company in the world that can simultaneously build two types of LNG ships, NO96 and MARK III. The product types range from ocean going (174000 cubic meter LNG ships) to nearshore (80000 cubic meter LNG ships), from inland (14000 cubic meter LNG transport and refueling ships) to inland (onshore LNG storage tanks), forming a full range and coverage of high-end products from small, medium, large to super large LNG ships.

The company's current LNG new ship type has been iterated to the fifth generation, with a reserve of multiple types of LNG series products. More than 40 LNG ships have been delivered, with nearly 60 orders in hand. The construction quality and efficiency have reached the international advanced level, making it a true "chain leader" of China's offshore LNG industry chain.

The company always believes that improving the localization rate is the key to the development of the domestic LNG transport ship industry chain from large to strong. The materials on LNG transport ships are divided into low-temperature materials and conventional materials. Due to the extreme reliability requirements, the service life of related components should reach more than 40 years, which is a huge improvement in quality and accuracy compared to the requirements of ordinary ships. Led by relevant departments, the company takes on the responsibility of being the "chain leader" and works tirelessly with domestic enterprises to vigorously promote the research and application of domestically produced equipment and materials. This has led to a significant increase in the localization rate of large LNG transport ships in China, and various technological breakthroughs have been reported frequently.

At present, the company has increased its localization rate from less than 30% when it was "Dapenghao" to over 75%, significantly enhancing the company's bargaining power and international competitiveness, and ensuring the safety of the domestic LNG ship industry and supply chain. Since the delivery of the "Dapenghao" in 2008, China's LNG transport ships have developed rapidly, and LNG ships have become an important way to alleviate the national energy supply-demand contradiction and optimize the energy structure at this stage.
