[Heavy] First RMB settlement order! The company collaborates with Seaspan to sign 6 more 13600 TEU container ships

On October 18th, the company once again joined hands with Seaspan to sign a contract for the construction of six independently developed 13600 TEU large container ships. This is the third batch of 15 large container ship orders undertaken by the company this year, and it is the first settlement in RMB. So far, the company has accumulated over 100 container ship orders, ranking among the top shipyards in the world. This not only demonstrates the company's strong research and development capabilities, excellent manufacturing quality, and good market reputation in the field of large and ultra large container ships, but also further consolidates its competitive advantage and "leader" position globally. More than 30 leaders and guests, including Chen Bing, Chairman of Seaspan Company, Zhang Zhenghua, Chairman and Vice President of ICBC Leasing, Wang Zhenyong, General Manager of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Hu Kai, Chairman Chen Jianliang, and Chief Engineer Song Wei, attended the signing event. Li Kun, Chief Commercial Officer of Seaspan Company, Wu Aijun, Deputy General Manager of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and Chi Benbin, Deputy General Manager of the company, signed the construction contract.

This ship type is another green and environmentally friendly container ship independently developed and designed by the company. It has a total length of about 336 meters, a width of 51 meters, a depth of 30.2 meters, a maximum container capacity of 14132 TEU, and provides 2000 refrigerated container spaces. The latest concept has been adopted in the design, equipped with desulfurization towers and energy-saving devices, which can meet the subsequent green fuel retrofitting needs of ship owners, ensuring low energy consumption, high speed and green environmental performance. These characteristics make it fully comply with the strictest international environmental regulations, providing customers with an efficient and economical maritime transportation solution. It is reported that this series of ships is planned to be completed and delivered between 2026 and 2028.

It is worth mentioning that this batch of orders will be settled in RMB, which is one of the few shipbuilding orders directly signed by foreign shipowners with Chinese shipping companies using this new payment method. It is of great significance for promoting the internationalization of RMB. At present, with the increasing scale of economic and trade between China and countries around the world, the international status of the RMB is constantly improving. RMB internationalization will help strengthen economic cooperation between China and countries along the "the Belt and Road" and promote better regional economic development. The company responds to the national call, strengthens friendly relations with various partners, and actively promotes the internationalization of the RMB on the basis of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, reflecting a high sense of social responsibility and a profound understanding and support for national policies. The company entered the container ship market in the late 1980s and has successfully built the world's first, largest, and most advanced 23000TEU dual fuel powered container ship, as well as the world's largest 24000TEU conventional fuel powered ultra large container ship, 15500TEU, 15000TEU, 14500TEU, and 13500TEU dual fuel (conventional) powered large container ships. It has become a leader in the design and construction of large and ultra large container ships across the entire spectrum in China. At present, the company holds all orders for green, environmentally friendly, and high value-added ships, and plans for some production lines have been postponed until after 2030.
