On September 26th, the company named and delivered the third 174000 cubic meter large liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ship "Kongdong" six months ahead of schedule for the second phase of the China National Petroleum LNG transportation project of COSCO Shipping.
This is the sixth large LNG transport ship delivered by Hudong Zhonghua, following the first phase of the project, the Shaolin, Wudang, and Kunlun, and the second phase, the Emei and Huashan. Thus, all six ships of the first and second phases of the project, named after the six major martial arts sects in China, have been delivered.
Ms. Mu Xiuping, a guest named after the new ship, named and cut the cable for the "Kongtong" ship. Ms. Weng Hongbing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of the company, Ms. Zhu Jinjin, Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING, and Ms. Wu Junli, Executive Director and Party Secretary of PetroChina, delivered speeches.
Zhu Wenjin, Deputy General Manager of China Petroleum Corporation, Qin Jiong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO Shipping, Shi Xingtai, Operations Manager of Lloyd's Register in Greater China, Guo Jianjun, Deputy General Manager of China Classification Society Shanghai Branch, and Qian Bo, Technical Manager of GTT China, attended the naming ceremony. 174000 m ³ large LNG transport ship "Kongdong"
The "Kongtong" is a mainstream large-scale LNG transport vessel in the world today, independently developed and designed by Hudong Zhonghua, with complete intellectual property rights. The ship has a total length of 295 meters, a width of 45 meters, a depth of 26.25 meters, a speed of 19.5 knots, and is classified by Lloyd's Register (LR) and China Classification Society (CCS). The ship adopts the world's latest generation dual fuel low-speed propulsion system, equipped with advanced environmental protection devices, with a daily fuel consumption of less than 100 tons. Its emissions in gas or fuel mode can meet the strictest standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It has many characteristics such as low evaporation rate, low energy consumption, high environmental protection, strong universality, and excellent economy. Especially, its ship shore compatibility is good, the route adaptability is flexible, and it can reliably dock at most land shore stations around the world. It also has the function of ship to ship sea transfer and transportation, which has been well received by ship owners and popular in the market.
The successful delivery of the "Kongtong" vessel is another "great national treasure" created by three central enterprises, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, China COSCO Shipping Group, and China National Petroleum Corporation, working together to implement the national energy development strategy and the policy of "national gas, national transportation, national shipbuilding". It is a classic case of sincere cooperation between central enterprises, making new contributions to the country's "dual carbon" strategy and global green shipping, and presenting a generous gift for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The construction highlights of the "six major sects" are diverse. In the construction of the "Shaolin" vessel, the company achieved for the first time the commissioning of gas filling equipment during the dock construction phase; The "Wudang" has set a record for the shortest docking period of LNG ships; The Kunlun has achieved the fastest installation record for the liquid cargo hold enclosure system platform through optimized construction technology; The "Emei" vessel was named and delivered 9 months in advance; The "Huashan" set a global record for the fastest "2-in-1" trial voyage with a 4.5-day cycle; The 'Kongtong' vessel has set a new record for the shortest dock cycle in 6 months. The achievement of these results embodies the wisdom and sweat of the entire construction team, reflecting the company's continuous improvement of process technology and rapid enhancement of construction capabilities with the strong support of various partners.
Supported by the strategy of doubling LNG ship production capacity, the company's large-scale LNG ship construction continues to achieve further acceleration. In September alone this year, 2 ships were delivered, 3 ships started construction, and 1 ship was docked. Currently, 20 ships are under construction simultaneously. On September 30th, the company plans to deliver one more large LNG ship, setting a new record in China's shipbuilding industry for delivering three large LNG ships in one month.
