Today is the 94th anniversary of the company. The predecessor of Hudong Zhonghua was the British Mahler machine shipyard, which was founded by Eric Mahler in 1928. On August 15, 1952, Chen Yi, the then mayor of Shanghai, issued a collection and management order, and the Shanghai military control commission expropriated the MAHLE machinery shipyard. Hudong Shipyard was officially established. Over the past 70 years, Hudong China has worked hard in unity, striving to be first-class, delivering multiple types of naval ships, leading the development of China's LNG ship and container ship industry, creating many "world first and China first", making important contributions to the development of the people's Navy's equipment and the national energy strategic security, and writing a magnificent chapter of the company's high-quality development.

Bearing in mind the primary responsibility of the central enterprises of the military industry to protect the army, Hudong Zhonghua has built 17 types of first ships for the people's navy, including amphibious attack ships, amphibious landing ships, ocean going comprehensive supply ships, missile frigates, tank landing ships, and electronic reconnaissance ships. It is known as the "cradle" of the people's Navy's frigates and landing ships.

Development of LNG industry chain

Hudong Zhonghua adheres to the original intention of serving the country through industry, and breaks the technical blockade of Japanese and Korean shipyards. In 2008, it successfully delivered the largest cargo ship with the highest technical difficulty in the world - Large LNG ship, and successfully won the "Pearl" in the world shipbuilding crown. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the high-quality development of Hudong Zhonghua LNG industry has achieved "accelerated development". It has the independent R & D and manufacturing capacity of various types of LNG carriers, LNG refueling ships, lng-fsru (LNG storage, transportation and regasification devices) and membrane type LNG shore station storage tanks. It has embarked on a road from introduction and absorption to independent innovation and then to development and expansion of the LNG industry. At present, Hudong Zhonghua holds the first LNG ship order in China.

Record breaking construction of large container ships

Hudong Zhonghua is also a leader in the construction of container ships in China. It has delivered nearly 70 container ships with more than 8000TEU, which is widely praised by shipowners at home and abroad. On August 1, the world's largest 241116teu super large container ship was successfully docked at Changxing Shipbuilding Base. Hudong Zhonghua broke the world's top super large container ship construction record, marking that the world's super large container ship construction has entered a new era for Chinese ships.
