On behalf of Chinese shipbuilders, they made a deep confession to the motherland: never stop exploring and never stop pursuing dreams!

The LNG R&D team's appearance at the party was a full affirmation of the company's efforts to enter a new era and make brilliant achievements, which further enhanced the confidence and determination of the Chinese people in Pudong to continue their struggle. In the past ten years, the delivery of world advanced LNG ships and the completion of amazing LNG industry chain super projects have demonstrated the struggle of the Chinese people in eastern Shanghai to build dreams and climb the peak. Ten years of sword casting witnessed the exploration journey of Chinese shipbuilders in forging high-end marine equipment, and also witnessed the dark blue track of China's shipbuilding industry from big to strong.

The Way to Strive Forward

Leading the industry and moving forward with reputation

As early as 1997, when China launched the first overseas LNG introduction project, Hudong Zhonghua dared to be the first and pioneer, becoming the first ship enterprise in China to start the development of large LNG carriers. After ten years of unremitting efforts, it successfully delivered China's first large LNG carrier in 2008. As a pioneer and leader in China's LNG ship industry, Hudong Zhonghua, under the strong leadership of the Party Group of China Shipbuilding Group, has undertaken the heavy task of developing equipment for China's LNG whole industry chain without hesitation.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Hudong Zhonghua has been based on a new stage of development, implemented new development concepts, built a new development pattern, took the research and development and manufacturing of LNG storage and transportation equipment as its development strategy, significantly enhanced its own design and construction capabilities, and constantly made innovations and breakthroughs. It has embarked on an extraordinary road of independent research and development, design and construction of large LNG ships. By 2022, the LNG industry of Hudong Zhonghua has entered the 25th year of development, and more than 30 large LNG ships have been successfully delivered.

Over the past ten years, Hudong Zhonghua has been pursuing unremittingly and upgrading iteratively. Following the "Evergreen" series, it has successfully launched "Changjian", "Chang'an", "Changxing" and "Changheng" series LNG ships. The independent research and development of "Changxing Series" LNG ships has achieved synchronization with the latest ship types in the international market, showing a strong development potential. We have successively developed and successfully built and delivered four second-generation 172000m3 zero cargo damage large-scale LNG ships, ten third-generation 174000m3 dual fuel electric propulsion large-scale LNG ships, and six fourth generation 174000m3 dual fuel low-speed direct propulsion large-scale LNG ships. The comprehensive energy consumption has been significantly reduced from the second-generation 150t/day to less than 100t, a drop of more than 50%; The energy consumption index of the fourth generation ship type EEDI has increased by more than 30% compared with the second generation, and its environmental protection performance is more outstanding.

In 2021, Hudong Zhonghua will take two years to develop the fifth generation "Changheng" series of 174000 cubic meters of large LNG ships. Compared with the fourth generation of 174000 cubic meters of LNG ships, the comprehensive energy consumption index will be significantly reduced by 7%, the natural evaporation rate of cargo holds will be further reduced by 15%, and the empty ship weight and comprehensive performance index will reach the international top level. As soon as the "Changheng" series LNG ships came out, they were warmly welcomed by international ship owners, and there were countless fans. At present, the company has received orders for more than 20 real ships of this ship type in batches, and its business performance once became the world's largest, fully demonstrating the profound technical heritage of Hudong China.

Through lean management and intelligent manufacturing, Hudong Zhonghua has continuously shortened the construction cycle of large LNG ships, which has now been comparable to the international advanced ship enterprises. In 2019, Hudong Zhonghua successfully broke through the construction difficulties of the MARK III enclosure system and became the only ship enterprise in the world that can build both NO96 and MARK III LNG ships at the same time. At present, the first domestic LNG shore tank built with the MARK III enclosure system has been completed. The whole LNG industry chain pedigree of Hudong Zhonghua has been continuously enriched and improved. Its product line has been expanded to LNG bunkering ships, LNG FSRU, LNG powered ships and other fields. It has also made remarkable achievements in LNG ship refitting FSRU, super large container ship refitting LNG power system and other fields.
